Evie Ridler

ITT Trainee

During my time training at Roding Valley High school I experienced an incredibly positive and rewarding period as an ITT trainee in History. From the very beginning, staff were very welcoming, supportive and genuinely invested in my development as a teacher. My mentor Matt Cocker and all staff welcomed me with their open door-approach and willingness to share ideas and resources allowed me to grow in confidence and refine my teaching practice.

The atmosphere in the school is one of care and collaboration; everyone works together to create the best outcomes for the students. I particularly appreciated how numerous members of staff took time to check in on my progress and offer constructive feedback, which made me feel truly valued as part of the team.

One of the things that meant the most to me was the belief that the school showed my potential. This belief motivated me to apply for a permanent position here, and I was delighted to be successful at the interview. I felt proud and excited to be starting my teacher career at a school where I felt so supported. Upon reflection and after completing my ECT year one, I feel even more confident that I will continue to be supported and know I can continue to develop my teaching career both professionally and personally.
