Careers Education Information Advice & Guidance
There has never been a time when careers guidance has been as important for young people as it is today. At Roding Valley High School we have a critical role to play in preparing our students for the next stage of their education or training and beyond.
At Roding Valley High School we strongly believe in planning ahead for our students’ futures. We understand the importance of making informed decisions, so we make sure our students have access to all the relevant information and opportunities to make those decisions.
Our careers education and guidance aims to prepare all students for their adult and working life by contributing to the development of the fully rounded individual. We firmly believe that students should always be given the opportunity to develop their knowledge of themselves and be able to utilise all the opportunities open to them. (Full details are in our Careers policy)
We aim to help all students thoroughly investigate career opportunities through a range of educational experiences:
Starting as early as Year 7 in KS3 we encourage students to develop their strengths and skills through their Careers and Personal Development Programme.
During their KS4 years students will participate in a careers programme to include a work experience placement, workshops in CVs, job applications, interview techniques and mock interviews. They will be guided in how to make applications to college, sixth form, apprenticeship schemes or jobs. They will have an individual careers meeting with our careers adviser.
In KS5 students will follow our Beyond 18 programme which includes, UCAS workshops, apprenticeship workshops, CV workshops and specialist support for specific pathways. They will have an individual careers meeting with our careers advisor and meetings can be booked on request.
Throughout their 7 journey at Roding Valley, all students have access to, our annual careers fair, inspirational talks, assemblies, guest speakers and impartial careers information regarding all Post 16 and 18 options from our careers advisor.
At Roding Valley we have our own dedicated Careers Advisor. Mrs Mason is Level 6 Qualified, a member of the CDI Professional Body and on the National Careers Advisors register.
Our Careers Room, is open daily from 8.15am – 4.15pm, Monday – Wednesday.
Students and Parents can make an appointment by telephone or via e-mail.
