Photography – Key Stage 4

Our Values - SRA Art lessonThis is a two year course which explores both traditional film and digital photography. Students will have access to the darkroom and laptops to complete their work although they are required to have their own digital camera.

We use the AQA exam board where students are required to submit two coursework projects; worth 60% of their final grade. One exam project; worth 40% of the final grade. The exam project is released to the learners on 1st January, with time to prepare independently for the exam which is in April.

Coursework projects are based around the two themes; Natural Forms and Weird and Wonderful. The themes for the exam project are set by the examination board for each year.

To succeed in this course, students must be able to work independently and be highly organised. We have achieved outstanding A*-C passes for the past 4 consecutive years.

Many students choose to continue their photographic studies on completion of their GCSE, into our 6th Form.

You can find out more information about the Photography course at the dedicated website run by Ms Costello, Head of Photography.
