Welcome to the sixth form from…

Olivia Tinker – Former Sixth Form Student (2015-17, now reading History at Cambridge)
Roding Valley sixth form is a welcoming environment, the atmosphere is supportive, aiding students in the transition from GCSE to A Level.

There are many features of RVHS Sixth form which allow it to be an excellent place to study. For example the class sizes are small, ensuring that students receive lots of attention in lessons and revision sessions. The facilities at RVHS sixth form are excellent, the study centre, provides a sanctity for silent study, along with refreshments. I have found sixth form lessons complex but far more exciting than GCSE; they are more interactive and many lessons are seated in a more informal layout encouraging class discussion. At the beginning of the year, student are provided with a brand new Chromebook allowing access to Google Drive and collaboration on group projects. There are opportunities to become involved at school such as supporting younger students with English and Maths, peer mentoring and the Sixth Form Committee. There is also the opportunity to go on trips; such as theatre trips with English, subject conferences and UCAS conventions. Students are able to access Careers Advice and the Careers library allowing them to explore their options for life after A Levels. RVHS is a caring environment, students can access pastoral support throughout the year and during the examination period. Students are also encouraged to meet with form tutors and Head of Sixth throughout the year for mentoring sessions.

I am very happy here at RVHS sixth form, we are aided in our learning, provided with opportunities outside of the curriculum and equipped for the future. RVHS is an excellent place to study A Levels.
